Ricky Maertzendorff is the active brain behind White Dog Brewery. Where does the name White Dog come from? Ricky doesn't have to think about that for long: 'I have a white dog'. Sometimes life can be simple, but as simple as his name might be, his beers are incredibly sophisticated and well thought-out. 

In everyday life, Ricky worked as a laboratory technician. In addition, he had been fermenting food and ciders for years. From here, he started thinking that there was still a lot to gain in the world of craft beers.

The Whitedog label was founded by him in 2018 in Dordrecht. It is an (almost) undiscovered jewel in the beer landscape with distinctive beers in a quality class that leaves many a brewer stunned. Ricky works mainly with the very best hops and malts, which he sources from all over the world. He identifies himself by brewing mainly hoppy beers in the American style. The label also had to have its own identity. All this makes for an unparalleled, distinctive combination with which he sticks his head well above the hop fields. 

On Untappd, almost all the beers have a rating of above 4 stars (of a maximum 5 stars). This puts him at the top of the Dutch craft brewers. But if you ask Ricky which beers he really likes, they are Brett saisons, Wild (sour) ales, fruit beers, but... they are maturing at home in the cellar!
