Domaine Alain Mathias

Domaine Alain Mathias was founded in 1982 by Alain Mathias in the village of Épineuil, known for its vineyards and rich winemaking tradition. Alain's goal was to make wines that reflect the unique terroir of Burgundy. Since 2015, the estate has been run by his son Bastien and his wife Carole, both trained oenologists from Dijon. With their modern vision and expertise, they have continued to develop the domain, including the switch to organic viticulture and the use of innovative techniques such as amphoras.

Family business that both tradition as innovation embraces, focusing on terroir, sustainability and authenticity.

Traditional craftsmanship, modern leadership, biologic viticulture.

The estate covers 13 hectares of organic vineyards, located in the Chablis and Epineuil appellations. Chardonnay is grown for the white wines, while Pinot Noir forms the basis for the reds. The unique wine cellar, located in an old quarry, offers ideal ageing conditions with constant temperature and humidity. Traditional wooden barrels and innovative amphorae are used to enhance the complexity and purity of the wines. This interplay of age-old techniques and modern methods reflects the domain's commitment to authentic, elegant wines expressing their Burgundian origins.

Authentic wines that it Burgundian terroir express perfectly.

The winery is committed to sustainability and organic farming practices. Since 2015, the estate has been certified organic, working with respect for nature and the environment. The grapes are grown using organic methods, avoiding chemical pesticides and preserving biodiversity. Weeds are removed manually and biodegradable pesticides are used against vine diseases.

Sustainable produced, pure from vineyard to glass.
