Javier San Pedro Ortega

Javier represents the fifth generation of a family of winemakers from Laguardia, a picturesque village in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. From an early age, he learnt the tricks of the trade from his grandfather. At the age of 17, he made his first wine of his own in his father's winery. In 2013, Javier decided to fulfil his dreams and found his own winery: Bodegas Javier San Pedro Ortega.

This innovative winery is led by a young and ambitious team looking to give classic Rioja wines a modern twist. At Javier, everything is about surprise and distinction. His wines tell a story. They are contemporary, authentic and unique, with a deep connection to the region. Thanks to careful production and a fresh, dynamic vision, the wines bring the character of the land to life. All wines belong to the prestigious Rioja D.O.C, which guarantees quality and provenance. The vineyards are located in Laguardia, with the iconic La Taconera, a 1920s vineyard. The region's terroir produces wines that respectfully and modernly capture the essence of the land.

Commitment to the land is central, as the care given to the vineyards today determines the quality of future wines. The aim is to maintain a natural balance in the vines and to intervene as little as possible in the growing process. The use of herbicides and systemic products is completely avoided, respecting both the environment and the authenticity of the wines.
