About Allan Scott
A name synonymous with wine. Allan Scott is one of the first independent winemakers established in Marlborough in 1990. The Allan Scott Family Winemakers have made a name for themselves in this beloved region! Allan has almost 40 years of experience in the wine business. He is one of the most experienced people in Marlborough when it comes to growing, making and selling wine. In 1975 Allan and Catherine bought a piece of land in Marlborough as pioneers. The first independent winemakers began to establish themselves in Marlborough. Allan and Catherine were also part of this new era in the New Zealand wine industry.
In 1980, he was appointed by Corbans to oversee the establishment of their vineyards in Marlborough. He soon became their Senior Viticultural Manager, which not only gave him responsibility for the company's entire national grape intake, but also led to him becoming part of the winemaking team.
Establishment Winery
The winery was founded in 1990. Allan remembers it well. "We were one of the few to form the first wave of independents," he says. The winery is therefore a trendsetter and frontrunner in Marlborough. In addition, Allan Scott is also known as 'the Marlborough Man', he has written a book with this eponymous title.
