Description

The 2015 Haut-Médoc comes from the Domaine de Cartujac which has been a phenomenon in the region for about 3 centuries. The Saintout family has lived at Domaine de Cartujac in the commune of Saint Laurent Médoc since the late 18th century.
Originally, the family raised sheep on the edge of the moors and cultivated a few rows of vines. These became more and more over time as the wine became more and more popular in the region. The landscape where Médoc wines come from consists of gravelly soils on the left bank of the Bordeaux river. The wine owes its success in part to its interesting south-west exposure, which allows the grapes to reach an optimal stage of ripeness.

Characteristically, Médoc wines are light in style. Haut-Médoc is also more accessible at an early stage of the ripening process. In general, Médoc wines are a blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot grapes.

Usually ruby red in colour, Médoc wines are balanced and full-bodied on the palate. The palate consists of notes of cassis, cherries and earth, with firm tannins.
