Pinea Magnum

Description

Pinea - Deep ruby red colour with a garnet edge. In the nose, a grand melange of fruit aromas and a soft woody depth with spicy notes. In the mouth, an excellent body with abundant but not overwhelming tannins and well-integrated alcohol, which achieves a perfect balance during its journey through the front, middle and back palate with a long, savoury finish. The attack has aromas of black forest fruits, blackberries and some clove and black pepper in the finish. The aftertaste is  harmonious with a smoky note and of great length. A powerful, elegant, velvety wine that is rich from start to finish. A round, complex and balanced wine that highlights the maximum potential of Tempranillo at its best.

The Pinea is the flagship. The fruit for Pinea 2017 comes from our 80-hectare estate in Ribera del Duero, a mosaic of seven primary vineyard plots with different soil characteristics, slopes and vines ranging from 30 to 90+ years old. Such an amazing terroir gave the winemaking team at Pinea an extensive selection of fruit characteristics with stunning structure, acidity and range.

Description

The most iconic wine domain of Spain

Ribera del Duero; home to the country's most iconic wine estate - the historic Vega Sicilia - but also one of the promises of the current wine era. The stretch of the Duero River between Valladolid and Peñafiel is a great area for wine growing in Spain. It is here, across the Duero from "Vega Sicilia" that the Mexican-born founders of Bodegas Pinea established their winery. They acquired high-altitude plots of land with old vines near Burgos, in the heart of the DO Ribera del Duero, and hired the acclaimed winemaker Fernández - who learned his trade from his uncle, Mariano García, the legendary old winemaker of Vega Sicilia aka; the Master Sommelier!
