Description

Nanclares, Rueda

In this part of Rueda, the soil is exceptionally poor. At the surface it is mainly sand and sun-drenched summers make it look dry and barren. But appearances can be deceptive: the vines are remarkably green! This is because they are rooted in a deep layer of lime hidden beneath the sandy surface layer. The lime acts as a sponge for the little precipitation and the deep-rooted vines are happy to make use of it. The result is healthy grapes with a full concentration of flavour.
