Odisseia Douro red; After getting his degree in oenology and several internships in Burgundy in 1992, the passionate and now highly learned wine enthusiast named Jean-Hugues Gros started producing his own wines in the impressive in the Douro region.
The vineyards of the Douro region form one of the most awe-inspiring cultural landscapes in the world. The Douro's terroir is a unique combination of soil, topography, climate and grape varieties that cannot be reproduced anywhere else.
The many valleys and the different altitudes, from Mesão Frio to the Spanish border, as well as the diversity of the grape varieties and the different exposure to the sun, allow the harvesting of grapes with unique characteristics.

The slate soil, a metamorphic rock of the slate type, is rich in nutrients and has excellent water retention. This allows the vine to develop in the dry conditions that prevail all year round. The roots reach metres deep in their search for water, contributing to the complexity and intensity of the wines.
The proximity of the river ensures concentration. The altitude of the vineyards ensures freshness in the grapes. Each variety delivers its own characteristics and the old vines enrich the wines.
