Recanati Bittuni

Description

Recanati Bittuni - The Bittuni is an ancient local grape variety that has been used to make red wine for thousands of years. The grape was almost extinct, but Recanati saved some vines and is now proud to offer a red wine from this variety.

The Bittuni grapes are harvested by hand in mid-September and transported to the winery under refrigeration. The grapes are gently fermented with the branches and then aged for six months in old Burgundy oak barrels.

The wine has a light, floral and aromatic minerality, with a bouquet of red cherries and Mediterranean spices. The alcohol content is 12%.

Bittuni is harvested in the Judean Hills, south of Jerusalem. The vineyards are unwatered and the grapes are grown using the traditional tethering method known as "Hebron Overhead Arbor".

The Bittuni is a unique and sophisticated wine that reflects Israel's rich history and culture.

Description

Recanati Winery

Recanati Winery was founded in 2000 by Lenny Recanati and Uri Shaked. Their goal was to create a new winery that would produce original Israeli quality wine. The philosophy of the winery is to produce local and original wines, wines that best express the local terroir.

The winemaking process is led by chief winemaker Kobi Arviv, who began his career at the winery in 2006. Arviv, a talented and original winemaker, believes in matching Mediterranean varieties to the Israeli climate. The winery has vineyards in the best growing areas in the country, and is very particular about growing unique Mediterranean varieties like Petite Sirah, Marselan and Carignan, and local varieties like Marawi. Classic international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are also cherished.

The winery is proud of its unprecedented achievements in recent years, both locally and internationally. However, the winery does not rest on its laurels and continues to cultivate new vineyards, conduct agricultural and wine research, and - most importantly - produce wine with great passion and a constant drive to improve and maximise the beautiful Israeli terroir at its disposal. Recanati Winery, the symbol of excellence.
